Schaumgebäck mit beeren is a delightful German dessert made with baked egg whites. The airy sweetness of the meringue is perfectly balanced by the sweet-tart berries and rounded out with cool, smooth whipped cream. This recipe is as easy to make as it is delicious!

Ingredients
- 4 egg whites
- 1½ tsp (7.5 ml) vinegar
- ½ tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp (1.5 g) salt
- 1 cup (200 g) sugar
- 2 cups (300 g) fresh berries
- 1 cup (240 ml) whipped cream
Directions
- Let egg whites stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C), and grease a baking sheet.
- Add vinegar, vanilla, and salt to egg whites and then whisk to a light froth.
- Gradually add sugar and beat to very stiff peaks.
- Using a plastic bag with a corner cut off, pipe individual servings onto baking sheet.
- Bake for 60 minutes to a light gold.
- Serve topped with fruit and whipped cream.
