Kartoffelpuffer mit Apfelmus (Potato Pancakes with Applesauce)
Kartoffelpuffer mit apfelmus (potato pancakes with applesauce) is a classic German dish that is both comforting and flavorful, blending savory and sweet elements. The potato pancakes are made by grating raw potatoes and mixing them with flour, eggs, and a touch of salt, then frying them in hot oil until golden-brown and crispy. The pancakes are served with a generous helping of apfelmus (applesauce), which adds a sweet, tangy contrast to the savory pancakes. This dish is enjoyed across Germany as a snack, side dish, or light meal, and is especially popular at markets and fairs. Its crispy exterior, soft interior, and harmonious balance of flavors make kartoffelpuffer mit apfelmus a beloved comfort food that showcases the versatility of humble ingredients such as potatoes and apples in German cuisine.
