Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1½ tsp (7.5 ml) vinegar
  • ½ tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp (1.5 g) salt
  • 1 cup (200 g) sugar
  • 2 cups (300 g) fresh berries
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whipped cream

Directions

  1. Let egg whites stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C), and grease a baking sheet.
  3. Add vinegar, vanilla, and salt to egg whites and then whisk to a light froth.
  4. Gradually add sugar and beat to very stiff peaks.
  5. Using a plastic bag with a corner cut off, pipe individual servings onto baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 60 minutes to a light gold.
  7. Serve topped with fruit and whipped cream.
